How do I copy and paste these darn symbols into E*Trades Charts & Quotes page for viewing? Table of Contents "Call me ignorant, maybe a little slow, but can I need help getting these darn Rolling Stocks symbols pasted into e-trades quotes? I signed up as a guest with E*Trade, but I can't seem to copy and paste the 100 into their site! Help ME!" I classify your situation like this "At least you had enough brains to ask!" Some of lesser smarts would have stared at it, gotten mad, then forgot to ever go back and ask somebody, thus missing the whole show :~) I don't know if you are talking about pasting the symbols into E*Trades Quotes & Charts field via the Weekly Update or how to access the charts from the List of Rollers page on the RS100 (the page that you have to Log-In to.) So, I'll give directions for both. If you are using the List of Rollers' page there's nothing for you to do except click a text link. The stock symbols are all pre-set for you. To get to the text link just log on to the List of Rollers page and look for the yellow text located below the rotating charts, and above the actual list of rollers. In other words, the text is between the two. The text link should be moving rapidly from the left to right, or least on most computers it does, but some read the page code differently than others. I've pasted in the text that you need to look for below. On the list of rollers page look within this text for the yellow "DIFFERENT STYLE OF CHARTS and QUOTES" and click it. That's all there is to it. After that just sit and scroll through the charts that come up. For directions on how to do the same thing from the Weekly Update email read below the text in " ". "The charts you see above are updated daily. Once loaded, every five seconds a chart from our List of Rollers will flash before your eyes. Clicking directly on any chart creates a pop-up window. The pop-up provides a quote and a still image of the chart and also allows for the altering of the chart's settings if so desired. Click for a DIFFERENT STYLE OF CHARTS and QUOTES. You'll find everything already laid out for you, all you have to do is scroll down and enjoy. Remember, you can use your browser's back button to return here. By Clicking Here you gain access to a multitude of symbols setup for copying and pasting into the chart window. These are not necessarily Rolling Stock symbols, but a simple method to use for scanning charts while in search of them." Here's how you do it right off the Weekly Update. Where the symbols are printed out, down the page beneath the "Dead Rollers" with the image of a skunk, simply right-click your mouse on the first letter in the top-left corner of the group of symbols and, while continuing to hold down the right-click button of your mouse, drag it across the block of text, which will cause it the affected text to turn a bluish color. This is called "selecting". After you've selected the symbols as one big group release the right-click button. Now gently, and quickly right-click on the text that you've just selected and within the little window that appears, left-click on "Copy". Now click the text link I've set-up for going to E*Trade. It might take a moment for windows to open up a browser window for E*Trade. Once the window is open you'll be on the E*Trade website. On this new page left click in the field where it asks you to enter the stock symbols for Quotes. Then, right-click and in the little window that appears...left-click on "paste". This'll instantly load all of the symbols that you had copied into the field. Using the drop down scroll menu, click on "charts" and then click the button that says "go". That should be that. Again... once the charts come up, just sit and scroll through them. This sounds like a lot, but actually doesn't take any longer than 30 seconds from start to finish. If you have anymore questions please ask. |
